Golfing great Jack Nicklaus has already voted, and is proud to say he's voted for Donald Trump.
He's now also urging others to follow suit. The friend and business partner of the president is recommending Americans consider Trump for another four years. "It's not a personality contest, it's about patriotism," he said Thursday in a tweet.
Mr Trump shared the post on his Twitter page, thanking his friend. "Jack, this is a Great Honor. Thank you!" he tweeted.
Nicklaus, who often plays golf with the president said he has come to know him more since he has become president, and says he has seen a resolve to deliver on his promises, and a determination to do the right thing for the country.
He says he has not always been happy with the way Mr Trump has said things, and some posts on Twitter, which he says he has spoken to him about that. "His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has com through loud and clear. How he has said it is not important to me. What has been important are his actions."
Mr Nicklaus, who was born in Columbus, Ohio, but lives in North Palm Beach, Florida, concludes his tweet with a call to action. "I know we are only a few days away from Nov. 3 and Election Day, but I am certain many of you have not yet made up your minds. But if we want to continue to have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream, and not evolve into a socialist America and have the government run your life, then I strongly recommend you consider Donald J. Trump for another 4 years. I certainly have and have already cast my vote for him!" he said.
Nicklaus, 80, and Trump, 74, are longtime friends and business associates, according to an ABC News report in November 2017. Nicklaus designed the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point golf course in the Bronx, which bears the designation of a "Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course." And in 2015, the Jack Nicklaus Villa at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Doral, Florida, was unveiled.
