MLB.com - Thursday 12th October, 2017

The Astros didn't wait to find out their opponent before naming starters for Games 1 and 2 in the American League Championship Series presented by Camping World, as manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Wednesday that Dallas Keuchel will start Game 1 and Justin Verlander will take Game 2.

"Keuchel and Verlander are going to go one and two in that order," Hinch said. "I don't really care who we're facing, it's going to be that order. Then after that is where it gets a little thought-provoking, I guess."

The identity of Houston's opponent could hold ramifications for Keuchel, due to some significant home/road splits this season. If the Yankees were to win, Keuchel would take the mound at Minute Maid Park, where he posted a 2.26 ERA in 11 starts this season.

On the other hand, the left-hander registered a 3.53 ERA in 12 starts on the road. If the Indians win, the Tribe will hold home-field advantage over the Astros.

Verlander also has seen serious home/road splits this season, with a 2.45 ERA at home and 4.16 on the road, but he has only made three starts at Minute Maid Park this season, going 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA.
